Iā€™m starting to think the part of me that adores albums and binge-listening to discographies will always be at odds with streaming music. šŸ˜”

@simonwoods I was aggravated this very morning that Spotify doesn't seem to have a way to sort by date ascending so I could listen to a band's albums in order.

@simonwoods Why not both? I use web radio (shout out to SomaFM!) and push-based streaming services to discover new content, and then all-you-can-eat, on-demand streaming audio services for deep diving into albums and discographies.

@simonwoods +1 with caveats. I have an Apple Music sub, but mostly only so I can stream my own music on loads of devices. Still bound to Vinyl and CDs, and albums. But streaming is so useful when wandering and driving. So I think I like the balance.

@davidm That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. I'm a little more forgiving of Spotify since they base their whole thing around streaming and automated playlists. However, having Apple Music within iTunes is so weird and feels like a weird infestation; very un-Apple-like, as it were.

@brettkosinski It's definitely going to be a case of using both with me as well. I think my current frustrations come from attempting to use them combined, with iCloud Music Library which has just been a mess and made iTunes worse as a player of files.

@garethjones Yep, that's still somehow a big problem. It took me 10 minutes to create a playlist of The Mountain Goats albums, since when I choose "Add to playlist X" it doesn't do so immediately; I literally have to wait for the software to catch up with my choice which is absolutely absurd even if it is on Windows.

@dgs I'm finally fortunate enough to be in a position to experiment with a mix of options. My first (and hopefully last) round of experiments will involve an iPod Classic and software that is cut-off from any cloud-based syncing.
