Don’t know why I’m still having issues with things on my Micro.blog showing up in the timeline but I did ask a question here and would love if anyone has thoughts.

@patrickrhone no personal experience with either but have been toying with the idea for a while. Only one reason not to go in on this. Camera. Everything else I can mostly deal with. Seemingly I have not been able to find a thing slab camera only devide out there.

@patrickrhone I had the first light phone, used it when I worked at a resort for when I was out on the property and didn't want to carry my phone. It worked as promised. Had no issues. They've improved it since.

@patrickrhone I had a Light Phone 2 and was happy with it. It works great and is elegantly small. Also, they offer a $30/month phone plan, a great deal. I switched to a conventional flip phone mostly because the e-ink display was hard on my elderly eyes. But I'd still recommend it.

@patrickrhone Linking to my article about switching to a flip phone; scroll down to find model info and more practical info about using it.

TLDR: I can use Google voice to text with it, which is imperative because otherwise anyone getting a text from me would have to wait for an hour as I laboriously type through the twelve-key pad. Definitely quite a bit harder and slower to text with this.

Also, I have had to explain to my emoji-using family that even though I can't text emojis back, I still love them. Amazing how emojis can soften the tone of a text. This MIGHT matter to Beatrix?

@annahavron @patrickrhone I didn't mention that the Light Phone comes with voice-to-text, a help given the tiny keyboard.

@annahavron There are always ASCII emoji. The only emoji I've ever used are ASCII happy and sad faces. :-) :-(

@patrickrhone FWIW we went with a handed down iPhone for our teen because of iMessage and Find My. It does require a bit of a Screen Time diligence but it is working for us so far.
