I’m thinking of killing my Micro.blog account. It’s a great idea, but I find I barely use it.

@billbennett Who's gonna keep us informed about the troubles at Uber, what's up with Windows and the latest cameras that phone makers are putting out? It wouldn't hurt to have a journalist posting here, especially with news in spheres other than Apple.
Uber will be gone soon.
Windows? Is it still a thing?
The best camera is always the one you have with you.
What else do you need?
Joking aside @billbennett would be good to understand why it isn’t working for you ... because as Ron says ... journalists!
@manton It's not that anything is wrong, I love the software and the idea. My main problem is finding the time and attention to make use of Micro.blog. I’m going to try something for the next week or two before making a final decision. I may feel different when my workload reduces.
@Ron Actually that's a good point. I could use micro.blog as... well... a micro blogging tool for takes on news.
@JohnPhilpin Mainly an attention thing. I tell myself I'll open the app when I have a minute, next thing I know a new week has begun.
@billbennett aaaah ... the old behavioral modification thing ... yes ... and ... there will be some thoughts in here on that .... that’s for sure.
@billbennett some thoughts ... that you might already have .... but ....
Make sure that you have both your Twitter account and your Facebook (given you still have one) are tied to micro.blog - also your own blog billbennett.co.nz you might also want to set up something like ‘micro.billbennett.co.nz to resolve to micro.blog/billbennett
Now whatever you post to micro.blog automatically posts to Twitter and Facebook as well as being right here in a domain under your control. Also ... any posts to your blog will route back to here.
There is a slight confusion with mb @s and Twitter @s .. which you can overcome by (say) changing your mb handle to @billbennettnz .... so now when you get called out here it runs across to Twitter.
Now it means that as a journalist all the content you post here is getting routed ‘over there’ ... and you only need to have the single m.b interface to do it with.
Then it comes down to what makes this a different space to your main site ... and I have to say .. riffing on @Ron micro.blogging around micro points of news that interest you is a neat way to go.
I notice on your iPad article you called out IAWriter ... so where you are writing can now be the starting point to post to micro.blog .... as you write there ... longer weighty thoughts go to your main blog - but using the share sheet you can publish quick random thoughts directly to micro.blog from iA writer.
... and as you publish your micro thoughts they are auto-routed to Twitter and FB - and in micro.blog you have a single place where your published writing all is held.
My equivalent world for all of that is John.philpin.com which is vanilla mb template with some css styling. And even stuff I publish to my other blogs has links back to those blogs automatically published here ...
Don’t know if that helps to describe one potential scenario for how mb doesn’t need to become an extra chore /node in your workflow - but more a connection point for everything.
Onwards
@JohnPhilpin Never thought of being able to use iA Writer to post directly to m.b and even BLOT
@sumudu I have been playing around a lot with different flows to get to one that works for me ... I am tending towards Ulysses for writing - but curiously the share into microblog is not as simple IAWriter ... unless I’ve missed a trick / which is entirely possible!
@JohnPhilpin @sumudu I'm waiting until it is a little more robust before trying to get @aaronpk's bridge from XMLRPC to MicroPub working with MarsEdit. That will be fun.
@jeremycherfas ... and then I will wait a little longer until someone makes it a little more approachable - sadly i am an edge case in tech abilities - and not the right edge at that!
@jeremycherfas fyi I'm not planning on making any changes to that project unless prompted by someone who is actually going to use it with another tool. I would also rather see MarsEdit add Micropub support so that it can work natively with more sites!
@aaronpk and so I am waiting a little longer ... but calling out @danielpunkass to highlight some possible cheese …
@sumudu @JohnPhipin I’ve been using iA Writer to Post and edit posts in Blot. I hadn’t thought about using it to post M.b
@aaronpk I intend to support it natively when I can. It’s would be helpful to know if an equivalent of “getPosts” is standard yet? Can I list the contents of a blog?
@danielpunkass Not yet, but if that's a requirement for you then I am interested in solving it!
@JohnPhilpin That's an excellent summary. I’m about halfway there, although as you guessed I killed my Facebook account some time ago.
Will start working through these over the next day or so. Been offline for the last 15 hours because a storm took out our power and local cellular tower. It's been hectic.
@JohnPhilpin When you say use the share sheet from iA Writer, do you mean on iOS? I can do it easily from the iPad, but can't seem to do this on MacOS.
@billbennettnz my bad - for some reason I had you in the iPad only camp - and so yes - on iOS - and I would love it if there was a real micro.blog share sheet to use on Mac .... there isn’t yet - but if you haven’t given mars edit a try on the Mac - please do - Daniel Jalkutt is the developer is on micro blog and a friend of Manton ... they even do a podcast together.
I have mars edit connected to 4 wp blogs, tumblr and micro.blog which eases publishing, cross publishing etc .... out of IAWriter ends up - for me at least - cut and paste - which is where Ulysses comes in for me.
Also as someone pointed out - it (mars edit) becomes a local back up if everything you have out there
@JohnPhilpin The only reason I haven't paid for Mars Edit is that I have Pages, Word, iA Writer, Byword, maybe even more uninstalled licences for writing apps. It seems another would be overkill.
Writing apps are the tools of my trade.

@billbennettnz Read and interesting ... Thankyou. Love pages. Never use word ... pages interoperability with MSoft means I don’t have to for what I need ... IAWriter I have ... add to that Editorial and Ulysses —— got them all / to me there is a difference between producing stuff ... put pages and word at one end of that spectrum and publishing stuff - put mars edit at the other ... then to that add what you are publishing to ... a blog ? Pages sucks ... a book ? Don’t go near mars edit .... now throw in long form versus short form .... interoperability with collaborators ,.... EG google doc to collaborate and use the extensions to publish to Wordpress etc etc .... horses for courses - I seem to be in a recurring debate with people about this - it is not a single answer and one day I will produce the definitive logic tree that asks questions and then directs the reader to the solution based on the criteria ..., if only I had the time .... AND ... if I was a real writer ;-)
@JohnPhilpin Am I correct in understanding there's not a simple way to push from iAWriter to micro blogs? I'm a huge fan of Writer and want to get into sporadic blogging for research out reach
