@manton Congrats on a neat little PSESO solution, but PSESO < POSSE.
As you'll have gathered from my Micro Camp talk, personally I'd prefer more focus on improving Cross-Posting from my Micro.blog 'Mothership' to established platforms which actually allow it (e.g. Medium), rather than bending backwards for unproven silos who haven't prioritized interoperability.
@warner That's a fair point. Working with open APIs is the best long-term plan, and I've resisted compatibility hacks for other platforms. At the same time, I want to make it easier for people to blog, so this fits that goal. If Glass doesn't show any signs of openness, we won't be giving it any more attention.
@manton That's a fantastic workaround. Like you, even I prefer to post photos to my blog first (hosted on MB but via my own domain). With Glass, I had thought of posting it first on my blog then on Glass but of course, manually but this workaround although goes to Glass first, saves me a few clicks and cut-pasting. Thanks! Agree on not supporting Glass if they resist openness and renege on their privacy-first promises.
@manton I’m curious about your statement that, “We do need more social networks”? I’m curious what your thinking is behind this? I haven’t really thought about this either way, but there appears to be a certainty in your statement, and that is what I am curious about.
@manton That’s great! 👏
Worked for me with the slight niggle that Micro.blog only picked up the first line of my Glass photo description (I had a two sentence description separated by a blank line).
@crossingthethreshold I wrote a little about this here under "smaller social networks": manton.org/2018/09/0...
@manton I can’t open the link. I’m getting a secure connection error.
@manton Brilliant. Love to see such quick support. I hope Glass opens up a bit more, too. I’d love to do the reverse: Post to my own micro.blog and have it cross post to Glass.
@manton @joec You may want to monitor or even vote up for suggestions for Glass here. You do have to create an account for using the underlying platform. They have indicated upcoming support for private Likes much like MB does Bookmarks. People may want to mark photos as favorites for later reference so as long as it isn't publicly displayed thus sparking a competition for Likes, as on Instagram, it's good.
@pratik Nice. I will keep an eye on that and participate. They are so new, so I get that they have limited features right now. But a nice API would be super welcome. And I could see how that would fit into their business model just fine. It's not like third-parties are going to syphon off their ad revenue.
@joec That’s what I was thinking too. Not having an ad-based revenue model opens up lot of options. Now if only they don’t get obsessed about rapid growth or want to cash out by selling it to some big player.
@pratik Thanks for the pointer to the feedback site. I registered and will be keeping an eye on it too.
@khurtwilliams I can look into that. What EXIF data would you want? And would it appear in the post or be stored in Micro.blog for use in templates?
@khurtwilliams don't you mean POSE ;) | curious which services you'd add | did you see my Micro.camp talk on cross-posting? Personally I'd rather see Medium actually work first, and better docs on existing ones, before going new
@khurtwilliams did you check the link? I suggested shortening the acronyms to 4-letters to make them more catchy & descriptive. Part of a bigger project I'm engaged in: making RSS more accessible. | isn't the whole point of POS(S)E that you don't have to give up on platforms specialising in algorithmically-enhanced reach? See my Micro.Camp talk for how I use M.b in this spirit!
@warner I’ll check out the links. Suggest a change it to the IndieWeb community or attend an IndieWeb Camp and present. The community is open and willing to listen.
I think @chrisaldrich can help.

@khurtwilliams that's the Aldrich article I was responding to.
Ahh so that’s where @manton got the idea for calling his conf Camp! Would gladly present my prototype any time from Oct 1 onward!
