With Bluesky hitting 15 million users, I turned my attention back to Bluesky improvements in Micro.blog today. More reliable to reply from within Micro.blog to Bluesky @-mentions, and on your Replies page it will now include a Bluesky logo link to reference the copy of your reply on Bluesky. 🦋

I recently started cross-posting to Bluesky from MB. Not because I care about it, but I wanted to see how fluid their ActivityPub integration was and whether we're really headed for an interoperable world.

We're certainly not there yet. All the innovation in this area seems to be lopsided towards the IndieWeb end of things, with the corporates dragging their feet and either whining that "it's hard" or blatantly making it more complex than it needs to be.

Colour me surprised.

@manton Happy to see continued support for Bluesky. If you’re up for some more improvements, could you look into carrying over alt text for photos? Maybe it does with automatic crossposts, but it looks like the alt text gets discarded when manually crossposting.

@jade Thanks for mentioning that, I’ll work on it today. Automatic cross-posts do carry over the alt text, but not manual yet.
