Been talking for years about the issues of surveillance capitalism. It took The Social Dilemma for our eldest (20+) to start to now question these services, especially Instagram. Let just say after the text arrived I was fully armed with follow up links and further reading 😂
@adamprocter The film has been criticised for oversimplifying the problem and being too extreme but I think it had to approach things in the way it did just to get people's attention and kick start the conversation. I thought the dramatised sections were very effective by anthropomorphising the algorithms.
@colinwalker I wasn’t sure that those part were a little overdone but I’m not the target audience. I am dropping Zuboffs book of for my eldest daughter so it has open up discussion and debate between her and her friends
