Follow-ups from @coreint yesterday about the DMA… We glossed over the Core Tech Fee. I have a better understanding of how the fees add up now, and where they apply. App Store + external payments: 10% (for small devs). Only way to avoid paying Apple: a marketplace and less than 1 million installs.
@manton As I understand it, you do not get the 1 million install reduction for the marketplace itself. For the marketplace app itself, you pay from install 1.
@manton Of course, there is still lots of negotiation time between now and when this stuff goes into effect. How much of this Apple actually expects to implement and how much is just thrown in there as something they put in there just so they can concede in order to keep what they really want, who knows?
