Traffic completely stopped on I-40 earlier today because of road work, and I had a view from a side street of this ridiculous line of 18-wheelers stretching seemingly forever. Hardly any normal cars, just trucks. Seemed especially inefficient as a freight train went by.

@manton I believe there is a company formed by ex-Tesla engineers working on autonomous railroad cars. Perhaps we will see shipping containers on wheels zipping by on rails the way trucks do on the highways.

@manton As more semis become electric they won't be more efficient but at at least they’ll emit less carbon and micro-particulates.
