@cliffordbeshers My first thought would be wind. Interesting that it looks like waves on the surface of the body of water on a windy day.
@Denny That is my suspicion as well, that the wind compacts the snow unevenly when fresh, causing melting to happen unevenly. But I don't really know.
@cliffordbeshers i second gently wind blown freshly fallen snow before it melts and refreeses. These look exactly like dunes in miniature with a steep side and a gently sloped side.

@cliffordbeshers A camera trap would be able to snap the tiny skiers without you needing to hang about with a macro lens and maybe scare them off.
