@patrickrhone Important subject, and it’s not discussed nearly enough. If I’m not mistaken, we have around 3x suicides compared to traffic deaths per year. I got “access denied” on the server… Don’t know why.

@SimonWoods @odd many US based, local news sites have region locked because they are worried about things like GDPR and don’t want to invest in lawyers to find out they don’t have to do anything just to serve a “non-audience” for their content.

@jsonbecker Understandable, those fees will add up quickly, besides ads on their site will probably not be targeting us.

@odd yeah-- I think they basically looked at it and said:

1. Reduces our CPM because so much of the ads will be poorly targeted.
2. Building blocking software will be faster/cheaper than making sure we're compliant with those regulations.

@jsonbecker @odd lol I love the idea that they're building blocking software and the ultimate result is a page that says this:

@SimonWoods @odd the whole reason this software exists is to be the cheapest thing they can do to get their liability to 0. There’s no one who is building that stuff who is permitted to care about what they build.
