Bluesky is now showing Standard.site info in the timeline:

Starting today, Standard.site links will have an enhanced render in the Bluesky app, with extra, actionable metadata about the post, including the publication and author.

Very cool. Support for Standard.site in Micro.blog coming soon.

@manton I don’t understand what that means — and following the link did not help clarify much — but I support anything that makes it easier to share posts that are longer than 300 characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how Micro.blog implements, um, whatever standadrd.site is. :)

@MitchWagner One way to think about it is it lets Micro.blog insert some structured data about the post (author name, link) inside the copy of your blog post that is automatically copied from Micro.blog to Bluesky. New apps could be built around that.

@manton
Indeed, it would be relevant and really rejoicing to have this support on many #Fediverse blogging softwares. This ability to concentrate and centralise blog publishing through several tools is actually one of the major particular improvements brought by the #blueskyatprotocol .

@manton manton is far more tolerant than i am. ;-)

i think they should just support the web. rss inbound and outbound, and everyone can read everything.

we had a standard for text on the web – it’s called HTML.

i’m giving a talk at WordCamp in August in Phoenix entitled “The web’s social web.”

We already have everything we need. I think a lot of people will be surprised that RSS 2.0 has everything we need.

@dave I also wish everyone would support inbound RSS! But I’m also okay with meeting each platform where they are, as long as they are trying to be open.

@manton – we are in agreement, glad you’re doing what you do, i benefit from it, and i can’t wait for the day when the only question they have to answer is when will you support RSS 2.0 with rssCloud.
