A beta is starting for Terry Godier’s feed reader Current. I love his thinking behind this, but I’m going to resist trying the beta so I don’t get distracted or influenced on building my own RSS thing.

I don't get it. what we need is a reader connected to our decentralized social graph.
1. social media isn't the problem but corporate algos that fuck with us like the tabloids at a check out line or the Maury Povich show definitely are
2. I'd rather spend time reading the stuff most popular with all the people I follow than add another feed of someone recommended to me and who I've read a few times and liked but don't need to wade through everything they write.
@wjmaggos I think we need both. Better social networks that don’t reward that kind of sensationalism, and also quieter feed reader-style apps for people who want to unplug from social but still feel connected to people’s blogs. There’s not going to be one app that appeals to everyone.
@manton well I’m still going to try yours. The web is a big place and I don’t think any one reader is one size fits all! amazing if I like yours more than mine 🤣🤣
I guess but we don't have readers for decentralized social graphs yet afaik. and if we did, we could just use them as an RSS reader if we wanted to based on what accounts we followed, or add that dedicated functionality. I need to vibe code or something.
@manton We talked about this RSS challenge on Episode 156 of @hemisphericviews and I referenced Terry’s blog post.
