Round Valley and Mt. Tom, from the hidden pond.

Peeking through a hole in the trees to see pasture and a large mountain in the distance.

@cliffordbeshers I’ve been looking at the maps, trying to figure out where your photos are taken and get hits from all over the US. Are they taken all over, or is it a case of many places having the same name.

@cliffordbeshers I’ve never been in that area, the closest is Kings Canyon national park and Yosemite. But the area there was exactly how I like thing.

@jemostrom I am on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, where the Great Basin and Range starts. The east gate of Yosemite isn’t far away. Lots of volcanic structures. If you look up the Alabama Hills, you will see scenery you recogniz from movies and car commercials. The opening scene of Iron Man, supposedly Afghanistan, is set there. The variety is tremendous.

@jemostrom Perhaps a better way to get a sense of the area is to virtually drive Highway 395 from Lone Pine to Bridgeport.
