@jean ooh someone mentioned Midnight Riot (also first in a series) and Broken Blade after I left (two series that fall right into my zone of "great fun to get out of a slump")
@SimonWoods @patrickrhone knows his stuff-- those are two I've used to get out of slumps in exactly the way I described it.
@Annie it is, thank you @SimonWoods, I noticed one author misattribution, Here Comes Everybody was written by Clay Shirky. Anthony Burgess wrote A Clockwork Orange, among other things which might not be right for this list.
Speaking of which, before I go looking, are all of these titles in someone’s Bookshelf already?

The Burgess one threw me; the full title is how it got complicated so I ended up going with just the ISBN.

I’ve included only the first to pop up from SERIES and none for Agatha because there are so many...probably a better way to handle series of books, but I don’t yet know it.
@SimonWoods Ah, right-oh! I’ve updated the bookshelf. I was blissfully unaware of that biography. Cool. I’ve added the Joyce bio from Burgess, but left the Shirky work because it’s a good one.
And @jean, feel free to do whatever you like with this :-) shelf.
@jsonbecker @patrickrhone Big fan of Aaronovitch’s books. I adore his classic ‘Doctor Who’ work as well.
@jsonbecker Kelly is a good friend (also, he shares a Birthday with my wife and has known her since grade school) so I try to promote his excellent work whenever I have the chance.
@patrickrhone someone (I think Erika Ensign?) mentioned Broken Blade back in like 2013 and I immediately read through them all. I consider those books deeply under appreciated.
