@manton Any chance MB will add body classes? Or maybe a plug-in for it? It would open up so many more design possibilities. I’d love to see classes like:

  • .home
  • .post
  • .page
  • .categories
  • .category-name

Etc…

@birming @dhester Currently this is really up to each individual theme. Would be nice to have a naming convention that most themes support, though!

@manton @dhester I totally agree! When I was creating the color palettes yesterday, I noticed the “mess”. Would really love to see some kind of standard!

@birming @manton @dhester I think some of themes implement microfortmats markup with classes for h-entry, u-photo, p-category and the like. I’d be totally down for consistent class naming to make theming easier.

@heyloura @manton @dhester Let’s do this! A preferred “MB standard” naming convention for both classes and variables. 😍

@birming @manton Any stats on what themes are used on Micro.blog hosted sites? I’d probably start by reviewing commonly used themes and checking out what conventions there are (if any). I should have a little time this weekend to start looking.

@heyloura @birming I don’t have stats handy, but I could certainly calculate some, maybe just with active users. Just a guess but I’d expect Sumo, mnml, Marfa, Tiny, and Bayou to be near the top because they are all either defaults or recently maintained. I believe all major themes have Microformats at least, so that would be a good place to start. Classes like h-entry.

@heyloura Sorry, just remembered you already suggested Microformats. I’d be interested in looking into where p-category could be used too. I hadn’t used that in my themes but it seems useful. And anything that doesn’t fit Microformats, maybe we could have a micro- convention similar to microhooks that Tiny and Sumo themes use.
