The big question I have to ask myself now is, is 3D Touch worth $400-$500, so do I go for an iPhone XR and save myself have a grand? Or do I just keep going with my trusty 6s?

@yorrike I bought an X last year, upgrading from a 6s, purely because I hate the home button on iPhones. It was a ridiculously privileged purchase, and I wasn't happy about giving Apple the money, but I loved the switch away from the physical button.

@belle Whoa, I'm still on a 6s and I've been super hesitant to give up my physical button. I'm super torn about upgrading this year. I'm not excited about the new iPhone, and I feel like spending $1149 on something I'm not super excited about is not a good plan

@aaronpk I thought I’d miss the home button, but now when I have to use a device with one, it drives me nuts. Without is so much better.

@aaronpk Ah, funny! The lack of physical buttons for navigation is something I always loved about Android. But yeah, I hated paying so much for the X and not even being excited when it turned up.

@belle I’m still wondering whether I need to upgrade or just buy a new battery. Maybe I’ll have a go with iOS 12 and see how it goes.

@aaronpk I’m on a 6S but the XS is a proper upgrade. Think about the quality difference of the photos alone before factoring everything else in :)

@belle I am curious, did the 6 have a fully mechanical button? I have an 8 which has a fingerprint sensor plus haptic feedback to make it seem like a mechanical button, but not sure if you’re including that in your definition. I bought it because I’m not ready to leave Touch ID behind.

@tmj 6S was the last phone with a physical home button. 7 had the haptic one like the 8.

@tmj I'm pretty sure the button you're talking about was introduced after the 6. I never tried it, but I remember hearing about it as many people said it was a step towards removing the home button. The 6 button has an actual click.
