We’ve updated how blog themes are edited. If you don’t have a custom theme, Micro.blog will now create a placeholder one for you, with an “Open” button to edit any templates. There’s a new sidebar of template names, faster search, and faster CSS editing.

@news Neat. That's really something I missed so far. Not really sure how much I would like to tweak my theme, but for some use cases I actually would like to, and so far finding an easy-on starting point wasn't all that obvious.

@news well, now I'm not sure I agree with my previous sentiment, perhaps @manton can clarify something for me: previously you had three sections of templates showing the level of override: your custom/override templates, the current theme's template, and the core MB templates. Now there does not appear to be a distinction and I'm actually not entirely sure where my overrides are anymore since it is a flat list without sections.

@anniegreens In theory it's simpler now: your overrides are always what is shown. If you delete one of your custom templates, it will revert back to whatever was the default in the theme. I do think we need to refine the UI, though, so that it's clearer. I'm going to work on this.

@anniegreens Also, if you have any concerns about editing templates, I recommend duplicating the theme as a backup (under the new Edit Themes → "i" button) or exporting the theme from Posts, just in case.

@manton yeah, I guess the main issue is, for example, I have a custom config.json where I'm only overriding what I need, but I like to refer back to the other one but now I can't see it :(

@anniegreens Hmm, good point, config.json is a special case. We’ll have to come up with something for that.
