There was supposed to be a Micro @Monday microcast today. I ran into a technical issue and a hardware issue. More precisely, I left my MacBook charger at my sister’s house.

Related: I resolve to learn more about iOS podcast editing in 2019.

Merry everything. 🥂✨

@macgenie well, before becoming the free software zealot I am now, I’ve made music on iOS devices for a fairly long time (at least taking into consideration for how long the platform exists haha), so maybe I can offer you some help in choosing apps and finding a workflow.

@cheesemaker A Christmas Miracle, with you as Santa. (It's cool. I retrieved it today, but I'm also having an issue uploading the audio.)

@macgenie aha.. now that you say that, I realise I didn’t even think I would edit any podcast on Mac. I have recorded, edited and published 4 episodes from iOS only - for that matter iPhone only.

I guess I have entered the mobile-first phase of my life - computer is too difficult for me now 😜

@macgenie Even though I record on a Mac, I do all my editing on Ferrite (except for 30 and Counting which is Wavelength). I love using Ferrite, very enjoyable!!

@EddieHinkle I have been recording/editing using Wavelength. But I have realized editing is a bit buggy and limited at this point. So I too am planning to move to Ferrite -- the experience during a test session was positive.

@amit Yeah, I don’t really edit in Wavelength unless I’m just cutting out a large chunk. For the most part I just leave my Microcast as-is imperfection. For serious editing, I have ran into occasional non-repeatable glitches. But i think the interfaces encourages you to only edit what’s necessary which is great for microcasts in my opinion. For longer podcasts with multiple people editing is essential and Ferrite is great for that. I use it with Bluetooth headphones and it works great to smooth over conversations and remove big umms or stumbles

@EddieHinkle @macgenie I do all editing for @theclassnerd in Ferrite. Editing with Apple Pencil is magical.
