@amit There's almost no difference between the regular iPhone 13 and 14. Emergency SOS via satellite, car crash detection, and camera tweaks. I'm thinking Apple assumes that non-Pro users only upgrade every 2-3 years, in which case it's a bigger change.
@manton Yeah, possibly. However, I wonder why won't you just buy the 13 given that it's at the reduced price. And given that it shares the chip, probably it will last the same.
I understand this has been the argument for every iPhone launch, but the incentive to pay for the latest model is least this year.
@amit @manton The new one has better camera(s) and improved battery; for a lot of people I would guess that is enough to justify the decision, and it makes sense when considering the product as a whole. In years past, when the "S" system was used, there was also much less choice and the device would not work as well for as long. It no longer makes sense to judge the product based on that system.
I mean... of course you can but I think it's a bad idea since you're no longer looking at what actually exists, rather you're projecting ideas based on the past into the present.
(FWIW this a thing I do, and find myself struggling as a result.)
@rishabh I think of it as a big improvement on my SE 2. If an upgrade was important enough to me right now, I'd be very happy to choose any of the current models tbh.
