@SteveSawczyn So I have to ask the inevitable, would you get bionic eyes? I know I would, but when it comes to totally blind people who've been that way since birth, I'm the only one I know who wants sight. I know it would be a lot to learn, and could possibly be traumatic, or my brain may not be able to handle it since my visual cortex probably isn't even developed, but I would try! Oh yes, I would.

@Lynessence It's a great question and honestly, I'm not sure. The idea of needing to re-learn just about everything I know from a visual perspective is scary to me. But I wouldn't say no necessarily either. I think my mindset is one of wait and see, if it's developed and shows promise, that's awesome, but if not, I'm not going to be sad about it either. It's never been a dream of mine to be able to see, so I guess I'm a bit ambivalent about it.

@SteveSawczyn I feel the same. I don’t wish all the time that I could see, but I do wish that I could see my child’s face and know what I look like. However, it’s not something I torment myself about. But if the opportunity were there, I would certainly take it.

@Lynessence I've never wished I could see my children's faces or my wife's face but that's because I would have nothing to compare to, no frame of reference. And without that, I don't know if what I'd see would make any real sense. I used to wish for two things: the ability to read and the ability to drive as those were huge barriers to independents. I say were as with technology and such, reading has become far less of a problem and with rideshare services, I'm not even sure I'd drive even if I could.

@SteveSawczyn I am content to wait for self driving cars, although I think it will be a while before they are used by the general population.
