Just tried using WhatsApp via their web interface. Definitely not the best experience, really really hope we see WhatsApp for iPad eventually. https://web.whatsapp.com

@SteveSawczyn The iPhone app is decent, and the PC app is also decent. I know this doesn't solve your immediate problem, but it does offer some options until there's (hopefully) an iPad version.
@SteveSawczyn What's app for mac - can't speak for windows- is accessible. easy to use too. I love it.
@sillyblindharper @SteveSawczyn That makes me wonder why I've never been able to use it on the Mac. Voiceover cursor is all over the place inside the conversation, and not even turning off cursor tracking seems to improve things.
@acarson Thanks. I do use it on iPhone and also on Mac, it’s a joy on both platforms. Which makes it all the more frustrating that I can’t use it on iPad. I’d think they could make a client that links up the same way the PC and Mac clients do. So strange.
@steve You'd think so yes, since I believe the app is a wrapper. That said, I'm glad you have a way of using it.
@sillyblindharper Yes, it’s fantastic on Mac, on Windows, on iPhone… so strange that it’s not available for iPad.
@SteveSawczyn Try Window spots within WhatsApp. Made a huge difference navigating for me. Although I'd say the PC version is the best so far next to the phone.
@acarson @SteveSawczyn I like the pc app, dislike that it wants me to constantly verify myself, but other than that, I prefer pc

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn It should only be asking you to verify once, upon account add. Did you do the thing where you open Whatsapp on your phone and type in the code to verify, or did you use the QR code?
@acarson @SteveSawczyn I did it with my phone. Then I had my pc off for like two days, and boom, back to verification

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn Did your PC do anything like rollback or restore from last known good config when booting after that two-day break? And are you having to repeatedly authorize or is this the only time you've had to do this again?
@acarson @SteveSawczyn No restores or anything. I had a two break time twice as I went away and didn't pack this computer. When I came back both times, had to verify again

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn So the reason you have to verify is so that you can get a public-private key pair for your device, in this case, your PC. I wonder what's killing the keys? Do you have antivirus software other than Windows Defender, or something like Deep Freeze running? Or just standard Windows 11?
@acarson @SteveSawczyn Using Nod32 from Eset. Yeah if it were DeepFreeze I'd expect that

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn OK. Would it be possible for you to temporarily switch from Nod32 to Windows Defender to find out if you're asked to reverify? Honestly I want to blame Nod32 because it gets really finicky about a lot of things and sometimes absolutely ruins keypairs for other things, but we should probably try to eliminate first.
@acarson @SteveSawczyn I can turn nod off, then will try to verify again. We'll see how it holds up

@acarson @SteveSawczyn I went to Nod when Windows Defender would kill games like Crazy Party even when filtered out. Nod didn't do that at all, but you're right, it can be aggressive sometimes

@acarson @SteveSawczyn BTW I think it's epic someone else in my contacts knows about DeepFreeze. I find it very useful sometimes for some things

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn I used to have to deal with it at work. It used to kill my Jaws settings every time.
@acarson @SteveSawczyn There's a companion program they could have used that's free that could have put those settings in a thaugh space, so there's no excuse for that happening to you

@startrek2025 @SteveSawczyn Oh God I just said that out loud, I feel so old now.
@startrek2025 @acarson @SteveSawczyn Yeah, I ran into that too. Super annoying, but when it works, it's good.
@rperez030 Really? When did this start happening for you? I’ll check to see if I have the latest version, maybe I’m giving it too much credit on the Mac.
@doubletap Very interesting. I confess I haven’t used Webspots for hardly anything, I should take another look at them.
