reMarkable is a really interesting product, that probably costs x2 what I would be willing to pay. $1058 (Canadian) for the tablet, pencil/eraser and new folio keyboard. I paid less for my 2018 iPad Pro, which remains one of the greatest Apple purchases ever.

@kaa that’s my exact thoughts on it as well. They know it’s expensive and that’s why they headline the device only price… as if you would ever buy it without the pen!?

If it was cheaper I’d consider one, but when we’re overtaking iPads the value proposition just isn’t there.

@DaveyCraney @kaa This is fascinating. First, I had no idea the exchange rate between the UK and Canada was in this state; I put together the full bundle and it comes to £587.

I had a thought, and this is probably a forgotten memory, but I did manage to quickly confirm it. This is a European company... now that is an unusual situation on the social web. Usually, as somebody from outside of North America I am left with disappointment at how horribly expensive the recommended nice things end up being.

FWIW the comparison with the iPad Pro is impossible unless you're in North America — that Apple device will never be that cheap — so, uh... tough luck? Welcome to our world!

@DaveyCraney Wait, you're here as well... so you're not comparing it to the iPad Pro in particular then?

@SimonWoods Ha! Hadn’t realised they were Europe based. Ok they’re dead to me :)

@kaa @SimonWoods That price is ridiculous! It's not cheap in € (worth it!) but that Canadian price is unreal. I guess that's our European way to give back, what we always get from companies across the ocean 😉 I recently compared iPhone prices, and it's also quite surprising to me how much of a difference there is, the other way around.

@SimonWoods I’m just comparing the price and value to an iPad. £608 for a base ipad and pencil for all the additional capability makes the remarkable 2 a pretty bad deal seeing as it’s such a unitasker.

It’s not as if a base iPad and pencil with something like notability or good notes is a bad note taking device as well as being a pretty capable computing device on top.
