The best time to blog is when you have something to say. If you have something to say, the writing will be easy. For me, these things usually come from a personal experience, anything from a simple observation to a full-blown epiphany. Write about it in the moment, if you can.

@Ron Good advice. Some of my best blog posts were when there was time to write at least a full draft at the moment of inspiration, even if it might still need edits, instead of just jotting down notes for later.

@manton Yes, brief notes made during an epiphany could be too cryptic to grok later, so if you can sit still to write out a full draft, it's best. The first good piece I ever wrote was like that and I'm sure glad I wrote it all out immediately! When you're in the moment, you can directly experience fhe truth and get it down on paper. MUCH harder later.

@fiona @Ron I wish I followed this motto more. I'm still planning on getting my education response out! I think the title will be: "School Should Be A Long, Hard Slog". 🙃

@fiona @Ron How about "Strike while the iron is hot; polish when it cools"? In the moment of inspiration, I lose track of what I've written and what I've just thought. Later, I fill in the gaps.

Sure, no extra charge! I used to put a lot of great stuff into Pinboard for later. Same result, the stuff is safe there, but kinda lonely.

@kwlblt Yes, I think that's the same strategy, though I've never heard the polish part before.

@Ron had to re read that twice and scroll back to understand ... polish, polish ... not polish ... got it.

@JohnPhilpin Yes, as in shine it up, not as in our friends from Poland.
