I’m in a podcast rut and would love some suggestions. I like conversations on: intellectual history, philosophy and theology, the craft of fiction and creativity generally. And strong narrative-led documentary production on literally any subject except true crime. If it’s told well, sign me up.
@ablerism May or may not be your jam, but Weird Studies is a very high quality podcast on arts, pop culture, and philosophy where it intersects with The Weird. One host is a musicologist at IU (just up the road from me) and the other is a writer and filmmaker.
@ablerism I just noticed that they haven’t updated their website with the last several months of podcasts for some reason. The feeds are up to date, though.
@ablerism I enjoy “how I write” a lot due to the diversity of writers (fiction/nonfiction/musicians/poets) and I find there’s always something interesting within their discussions. Philosophy bites is my Philosophy one of choice. The two testaments is on a break but again has an incredible back catalogue.
@ablerism Try The Nocturnists. It’s a medical podcast but they focus specifically on the storytelling & helping the caregivers develop their stories.

@ablerism there was a wonderful writing podcast back in the day by @iainbroome.com . I am not sure if the episodes are up anywhere still, but I’m sure it would still do well with a relisten today, if I could only remember the name.
@ablerism It’s fairly explicitly targeted at men, but I’d recommend Old School, with Shilo Brooks, from the Free Press.
Each episode is dedicated to one book that changed the interviewee’s life. This week’s interviewee was Dominican Father Jonah Teller, whose book was Middlemarch. I’d never listen to another political podcast if there were more liberal artsy podcasts like that.
