If Mozilla falls apart, and Firefox inevitably follows suit, I genuinely don’t know what I’ll do. Using Edge is pointless if it’s just a less good Chromium browser.

@simonwoods yeah Id go to safari. But I think Firefox will be ok. I guess if Google does pull the search revenue stream that might be a really mega issue mind

@frostedechoes @adamprocter As Adam alluded to, it looks like Mozilla have been relying on Google for most of their revenue and not spent that money wisely on alternative sources up until recently.

Also, the MDN has now been switched to a new site along with other changes, all of which amount to Google, Microsoft, and Samsung getting more cozy with Mozilla in general. I find it difficult to be optimistic about this set of events; it feels like the best known components of the open web are not as well supported as they need to be.

@frostedechoes @simonwood @adamprocter I’ve come to suspect that if I want privacy and freedom from ads, I’ve got to pay for it. I like Firefox enough to pay for it.

@ReaderJohn agreed, Braves model of curated adverts and points is interesting plus the VPN mode (paid) maybe Mozilla will try to push the VPN thing hard as part of Firefox which is probably go for.

@ReaderJohn @frostedechoes I agree. Unfortunately I wouldn't be willing to pay if it turns out Mozilla are beholden to the aforementioned companies. Mozilla needs to survive for the sake of the web, at least for now, but if they are so strongly beholden to the aforementioned companies then it's not the version of Mozilla we need.
