Though I think their point might be that critics can get it wrong and perhaps my criteria should be looser, and, it used to be until I wound up with way too long a to-be-listened-to list. Either that or a true music lover doesn’t need critics to show them the way. The friends I mention are nice people and deeply knowledgeable about music. I am a dilettante by comparison and they rib me about it.
