I considering resubscribing to Day One. Since their acquisition by Automattic; I’m not sure how serious Day One is with our data?

@ridwan I would trust Automattic to do a good job in protecting your data. They’ve a lot more to lose than DayOne as a smaller company. Also, Matt M is an ethically sound person compared to his tech peers.

@ridwan They seem very serious. The data is encrypted before syncing, so I feel pretty good about it.

@ridwan I'm pretty comfortable with them, especially since the entries are end-to-end encrypted. That said, I do backup my DayOne entries every month, just in case.

@pratik @manton @mroutley I have got many years of data in Day One app. It is good to know that they have got E2EE. I didn't realise that. With the introduction of web app, I was intrigued. I came close to re-subscribing but wasn't sure on the Privacy front. Now, I'm leaning towards re-subscribing. 🤣😊

@Munish I like their audio recording feature. It is very well done. I don't know I feel like Day One has lost its way too.
