I recently moved my /now page to my wiki. Such pages sit best there, so I intend to slowly move others too.

@amit How do you create a dynamic/now page? I mean, do you delete old content when you update it?

@pratik Oh I want to make this dynamic. Planning to work on it. Currently it is as static as it gets. I write what I am doing now.

@amit What platform are you using for your wiki?

@amit Are you archiving the previous content? I would love to see how you make it dynamic. I read this recently but of course, didn't get how it's done.

@pratik Looks like he (from the link in your comment) basically just writes now micro posts with a certain category/tag. Then excludes that category/tag from his home page blog list and displays it on his now page blog list. Doesn't seem to be as dynamic as pulling in from other services (such as Glass or Letterbox or Trakt or Twitter).

@Mtt Interesting. I have been wondering how to do that (excluding a certain category/tag from the home page but make it appear on a specific page). Is there a template that I can use? Also, it would be great to customize that page with widgets/code to show the latest photo from Glass, the last X movies from Letterboxd, the last X books from GoodReads/Epilogue, the last X TV episodes from Trakt, etc. @amit

@pratik Most of that (if not all) should be possible. There is a point where page load time may be a bit much. I may give something like that a shot over the holidays.

@Mtt That would be great. I would really appreciate if you can also share it.

@canion It's plain Obsidian markdown pages hosted through a Gatsby based site. I liked this behavior for what I had in mind.

@amit uuh, cool idea! I'd love to have that for my site as well, but then I don't want to fiddle around with the system all the time. I'm so glad micro.blog handles everything, but every now and then I feel the urge to get back into the weeds.

@Mtt Remembered this person's personal website. The front page is basically a 'now' page.

@pratik Wow, that page is quite similar to what I had in mind. I opted to use m.b's bookshelf feature instead of Goodreads. I would love to do the same with m.b's bookmarks feature instead of Pinboard, but I don't think that's possible as of now (maybe @manton has a way). And I did add Letterboxd as well. Almost any service that provides a valid RSS feed could be added. Check it out. Let me know what you think.

@pratik To be clear -- my site is a fully hosted micro.blog site. Not using any fancy self-hosted type of stuff here.

@amit so are you paying for the obsidian publish … or being your usual clever tech self, bypassing all that and written some code?

@Mtt That looks great. Clean and simple. I too want to create it on my hosted micro.blog site. I would perhaps like to display the latest photo from my photoblog too. I prefer Mb's Bookshelves too and would like to eventually move to Mb's Bookmarks as well.

@pratik I’ve got some cleanup and organization to do on the backend to make it a little more user friendly and shareable. What service are you using for your photo blog?

@Mtt I'm using Mb for my photos although host on Flickr and Glass as well. I upload to Glass and then manually cross-post to Mb.

@pratik That should be doable.

@Mtt Both have RSS feeds. So that's a good rule of thumb for any future "widgets". In the future, it can be your latest Toot instead of Tweet. Or a check-in service. But that's for later and can be customized individually.

Dang, @Mtt You’re going to make me write my own theme with that kind of inspiration.

@pratik Yeah, everything needs customized individually. Some post captions as titles or metadata as descriptions, etc. Would make a generic “theme” complicated, but is doable on a site by site basis.

@pratik I’ll try to get you something in the next day or two. You can also dig into it on my GitHub. I have not fully “prettified” the code yet though.

@JohnPhilpin Not paying for publish. Just hosting pages through Netlify as part of static website, you could say.

@amit Hadn't heard of Netify. Have now - thank you. Signed up and let's see - been trying to find a low cost approach to publishing some of the pages on Obsidian.
