We’ve started moving away from the label “Mastodon-compatible” and instead to “fediverse”, as that term becomes more common. You’ll see this change in parts of the web platform already. Also rolled out a few fixes today to languages, clearing profile photos, and cross-posting.

@news I think that's a good decision. I'm not sure that the term "fediverse" is displacing "Mastodon-compatible." But using "fediverse" instead of "Mastodon" will help folks know that micro.blog is not a Mastodon instance and should not be expected to conform with Mastodon's way of doing things.

I wonder if micro.blog is the second-largest fediverse platform? Or maybe the third? After Mastodon and maybe currently ahead of Wordpress.

@pratik A fix to showing cross-post destinations in some cases if there are multiple feeds.

@MitchW You can see how Micro.blog compares to other fediverse software over at fedidb.org.

@sod Oh, very cool. Looking forward to digging in to that.

@sod And now I've taken a look at that site, and I can see it's one that I need to spend time with. A couple of points jump out at me: Mastodon is huge; everything else in the fediverse is nearly a rounding error. (And that's fine for people who are into those platforms, as I am with micro.blog.)

Also, Lemmy seems like it's worth taking a look at. It seems to be a nice size. And, while I have enjoyed Reddit in the past, I'm feeling less and less good about spending time there, for multiple reasons, among them I'm feeling more and more foolish about working for free to help enrich centimillionaires and billionaires, especially when the centimillionares/billionaires are jerks.

@manton The fix for cross-post destinations somehow ended up resolving my months-long crossposting issue. That’s good but to be honest with you, and I do understand it’s a small team, I would’ve definitely appreciated active responses at least to the multiple times I requested help on that specifically since to my mind it's not a small feature but one of the top ones Micro.blog offers and advertises.

@moonmehta You're right, I'm sorry I dropped the ball on this. Thanks for being persistent. I'm glad it seems to be working now!
