@manton I keep seeing more and more reasons to just use Micro.blog for everything ...
@SockToy I haven't checked the Mastodon code but I expect it sanitizes all incoming HTML and links to weed out JavaScript.
@leoncowle It should be. I don't expect Mastodon to adopt this for creating posts, but possibly forks or compatible servers like Pleroma might.
@manton I'm only partway through that interview, but Mullenweg impresses me. Regarding the Tumblr purchase: I think he just plain likes the weird culture there (as do I).
@leoncowle @manton @siracusa Indeed, the Glitch-soc fork of Mastodon allows this! IIRC Pleroma also allows it, and also some other ActivityPub software (like GoToSocial, Microblog.pub, etc.). But not on mainline Mastodon itself.
@manton it gives Automattic a personal blogging platform, which WordPress no longer is.
As for me, lately I’ve been separating out my personal blogging from my Tumblr use, because I find Tumblr to be more collaborative. It’s that old Internet remix culture. Like comedy improv, as Mullenweg says.
