The xteink firmware isn't terrible but I think I'll install Crosspoint today. And the Calibre plugin.

@cherizilla crosspoint is excellent!

I love my xteink so much, it's a constant companion for me when I go out. My husband often looks at me funny when I pull it out of the bag, but I don't want to be constantly glued to my phone anymore. My tiny e-reader pal is so much cuter too :D

@sylvia @cherizilla You’ve now both got me curious about the xteink again. How does it fit in with having (I’m assuming that you have) a larger e-reader like a Kobo? Where do you use it?

@ctt @sylvia I've only had mine for a day, but I'm tickled by how easy it is to hold. It weighs nothing and the side buttons let you zip through the pages.

I'll still use my kobo for reading in bed, but this one is going to live in my purse/pocket, I think. It's so easy to carry.

@ctt @cherizilla I use mine mostly when I’m out and about, as it lives in my handbag.

It’s perfect. My screen time on the phone lowered by half since then and I grab it every time I sit down and want to stare at my phone. I read murderbot instead 🙂 and yes, I can read books on my phone too, but a phone has WAY too many distractions.

It has no backlight so I still read on my Pocketbook e reader at night. I do have the magnetic light you can buy with it, but as I have a cover on mine, it doesn’t “stick” very well.

Oh and, an added benefit is that you can stick books on it you buy in an ebook store via side loading, so no evil corporation can remove your books from your device. I downloaded most of the Kobo books I had bought, though, and some live on my xteink now 🙂

@sylvia @cherizilla Thank you both for sharing your experiences with your xteink devices. I was eyeing them up a few months back and was actually complementing myself for talking myself out of another gadget. 😅

Now I’m wondering again if it might be of some benefit. 🤷🏼‍♂️

@ctt @sylvia @cherizilla Now you’ve all got me interested too… I was wanting to spend a small amount of tech money, and I’m reading heaps these days…

@cherizilla I think the stock firmware is better since its launch. I couldn’t figure out the KO reader or Calibre plugin so stuck with the stock firmware. Yesterday, the first batch of X4 Pro was delivered in the UK. I got mine and I’m loving it.

@sylvia @cherizilla Do all models allow a change to the firmware. Xteink have an offer on today, so I am eyeing them more closely!

@cherizilla Which model do you have? The Pro is out of stock right now, but unsure about size of X3 vs X4?
