I finally setup a blog for the first time in like 20 years. I don't know if I'll use it much, but here it is: https://bigzaphod.com/blog/welcome/

> Years ago (like, stone-age-ancient-history-before-social-media-ago) I used to have a blog but I shut it down and eventually transitioned to social media platforms when they started to become a thing.

Saaaaaaame
Uh no. Now I'm feeling the need to POST CONTENT on my blog despite having nothing else to say.
Was afraid this might happen.
Maybe I need to go play some NES for a bit to break the spell.
@bigzaphod I like the design (as you can probably tell from my own blog's design... https://json.blog)
@jsonbecker nice - I just used a Publii free theme (and turned off some stuff so it keeps it simple). Wanted something clean but also kinda retro.
@bigzaphod this is cool. Frustrated with WordPress being so chunky I also tried out a Publii blog, before settling on micro.blog. The tech should reduce writing friction. Or at least help make it productive
Turns out @publii (the blog software I used) has a social presence here. So that's neat.
@writingslowly I thought about using micro.blog, but I have a server already so I figured I should maybe just use it. 😛
@bigzaphod Welcome! I wish Publii had a deeper inventory of themes—I think it’s a great solution for a lot of folks.
@bigzaphod What would be great is if there was an app that, using public protocols, could let an interested person subscribe to both your social posts *and* the blog, and have them appear in the same timeline – that way there might be less pressure to make blog posts.
Wait a minute…
@writingslowly I had a Publii blog for about a year but really missed being able to do edits and updates with MarsEdit. I eventually sucked it all in to Micro.Blog, with relief.
@bigzaphod micro.blog has loads of features I really like: bookshelves, autocaptions, bookmarks, photo gallery, search, retroactive categories, podcasts, newsletter, and so on, but for a simple flat file blog, Publii was very easy to use.
@bigzaphod I've been addicted to RBI Baseball again, like I was when I was 5. It's crazy how fun NES games can be.
