@cliffordbeshers Oh, that's high! I think we're at about 20 feet here. 😆
@cliffordbeshers we are expecting 8” tonight which will be the sum total of snow we have had this year. Happy digging!
@mbkriegh I think we got as much in two days as we've had in the previous four winters I've been here.
Current storm warning:
@Miraz I used to live in San Diego at about 100', and we'd always speculate about who would end up with water front property in the future.
I have a long form post building in my head about making coffee when the boiling point is low.
@cliffordbeshers In light of the devastating floods in the north and east of Aotearoa New Zealand I've just written a 2,000 word post for my local blog about whether we could perhaps suffer such floods here. My conclusion: given the same confluence of atrocious circumstances: Yes. Could Waikawa Beach flood disastrously? It's being challenged by someone who tells me it's never happened in the ~50 years they've lived here so won't happen in the future…
@Miraz Yup, there's always a few of those. They can't google "100 year flood", apparently. and they just dismiss climate change outright, and global warming is just stupid if it's cold outside...
On the old Top Gear, they made a trip to the arctic, except they couldn't go on the old ice road that had been used for generations because it was melting. Jeremy Clarkson came back and said, Pfft global warming, look how cold it was. Idjits.
@JMaxB I did not. I hadn't thought of that. I didn't have electricity to run the coffee grinder, so I had tea. I wonder if a hand grinder is in my future.
@cliffordbeshers we got our 6-8. We usually get two or three substantial snows each winter. This is the first this season. Still have March and April to go before we are out of heavy snow range.
@mbkriegh i would rsther two feet of powder than 6“ of east coast wet cement. My back feels for you.
@cliffordbeshers it’s somewhere in between wet cement and powder plus I’ve hired the kid next door to do heavy the lifting.
