@Miraz Right in the city, we've had enough outages in our 25 years here that we put in a generator β natural gas-fired in our case. It doesn't power everything, but it keeps frozen food frozen, keeps us online, runs at least one television, etc.
@ReaderJohn One local guy, who until a few months ago was a registered electrician, wired his house so a generator would power the fridge and some other items if needed. This is the biggest outage we've ever had. They used to be frequent but these days tend to be occasional 'blips'. The storms of the last couple of weeks kept the lines guys super busy though and they had big trouble locating why our power was out.
@jstr It was! You go to turn on the light β¦ nope; the tap β¦ nope (our water's pumped from a rainwater tank).
@Miraz I like having mine. It's small, but at least I know I can get a few things up and running. The water pump sounds like a challenge.
