Trump administration buries detailed CDC advice on reopening

I think it is incumbent on every person living in America to share this far and wide.

The Document

FUCK tRump.

Screw Birx.

“It was more about simplification.”

Really? I’m no brain, but even I can follow 17 pages.

@JohnPhilpin Tell us how you really feel :-) Step by step, it's been coming for some years; now it's really here. And — may the gods help us — at least a third of the country is OK with that.

I know - it's sad. I’m not American - but have lived and paid taxes there for 30 years. Coincidentally I am not there at the moment … and as each day passes - I am increasingly of a mind just to stay put.

tRump is one thing.

the enablers are another.

even if Biden wins - will the senate move to blue?

even if house, senate and Whitehouse are all blue - will they at a stroke reverse everything from the last 4 years - or continue to 'play fair’ - a known losing strategy.

when tRump eventually leaves the WH will he be held to account?

will the supreme court protect tRump and his tax returns and so destroy another institution - as Barr is being allowed to do?

i could go on - but really why? it’s all well documented. Few American people care - or at least the ones that do are simply silenced, laughed at, pilloried, attacked, insulted …

Oh well.

@JohnPhilpin I'd like to be optimistic, but I'm expecting the very worst. Welcome to America!

@JohnPhilpin I would argue there are more who care than not, but it is depressing.

@JohnPhilpin As I was harassed for wearing a mask today, I completely agree.

NextDraft: Land of the Free Fall ... more in the fall of America from Dave Pell.

To start ...

"A country that turned out eight combat aircraft every hour at the peak of World War II could not even produce enough 75-cent masks or simple cotton nasal swabs for testing in this pandemic. A country that showed the world how to defeat polio now promotes quack remedies involving household disinfectants from the presidential podium. A country that rescued postwar Europe with the Marshall Plan didn't even bother to show up this week at the teleconference of global leaders pledging contributions for a coronavirus vaccine A country that sent George Patton and Dwight Eisenhower to crush the Nazis now fights a war against a viral killer with Jared Kushner, a feckless failed real estate speculator who holds power by virtue of his marriage to the president's daughter."

Regarding who's side The Supreme Court is on ... even George Will seems to suggest that maybe the time has come to rid the world of the perception that they are biased.

”Today’s justices surely regret the perception that the Supreme Court is so politicized that many of its decisions reflect not neutral jurisprudential reasoning but fidelity to the politics of the presidents who nominated the majority of justices. The case to be argued Tuesday gives the court an occasion to mitigate this perception. In 1974, the court, with three Nixon nominees voting in 1974, and in 1997, with two Bill Clinton nominees, unanimously ruled against Nixon and Clinton in separate cases.
