I love the idea of a single app that reads RSS, Bluesky and Mastodon timelines, all in one place. I have tried Tapestry, Reeder and the Micro.blog timeline and none of them seem right for me. Am I missing an app that does what I am looking for?

@mitch When I started poking at mastodon a bit over a year ago, I went looking for clients that would undo the twitter-like experience and refold things a bit more like RSS. At the time, there were some scripts that would do that for you, but nothing either in the implementations or the clients.
Were I retired, it's the kind of thing I'd look at doing.
@mitch I fully believe that this is one of those concepts that sounds nice in theory, but the second you need to use a platform-specific feature (or INTERACT with something, like repost or reply) it all falls apart.
@hoagie In theory it shouldn't be difficult to simply click out to an app for interacting.
@mitch But that's another friction point, the receiving service has to support deep linking (I'm going to bet Mastodon clients are uniquely bad at this), and now I have to have clients for those services installed anyway.
Mastodon and Bluesky and RSS are all different things, you consume them in different ways, you interact in different ways.
@hoagie But they are all fundamentally streams. Facebook too though I don't expect that to open ever.
@mitch *Technically* they are streams, but the content and context are different and they are designed for different engagement. That's why these fall apart. Just because they're all streams doesn't mean they're the same.
@MitchWagner when you find one … let me know … in the same boat … hell I even struggle with a single place to follow RSS
@hoagie Good point. It’s OK if I need to open a post in another app to interact with it — but I need to be able to easily open that post in the other app. That’s a major reason I haven’t migrated my Fediverse presence to micro.blog and I still keep a Mastodon account.
@JohnPhilpin What are your difficulties finding a suitable RSS client? I, too, find them all unsatisfactory but I think the problem is me, not them.
all of them eventually lead me to trying another one. Right now on Reeder - and Brent just release V7 of NetNewsWire - so over I go. Specificity? Hard - just - it isn’t quite right.
@MitchWagner maybe we should have a chat with @numericcitizen ?
