The upcoming Europe-based W social network seems well intentioned, but there has gotta be a better name than W. Why draw attention to Twitter / X? And W has the most syllables of any letter. Admittedly “Micro.blog” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue either. 🤪

@jemostrom I haven’t looked closely, does it sound like vaporware? It’s easy to announce a social network. Harder to build and scale it.

@manton to me it sounds like a company that wants to try to get people onboard something that is sketchy at best. I think the main selling point is that politicians, news companies, companies in the EU is starting look for alternatives to Twitter, so the timing is key here, they want get these people onboard to get momentum. Apparently the company consists of 1-4 people. My money is that will not remember this in 2027.
