Really positive reaction to my post about adding European web servers for Micro.blog. Thanks everyone! This is the first step, excited to explore more.

@manton When you say Europe, are you able to say which country or countries? I know you might want to stay flexible, but there are some jurisdictions led by authoritarians, most notably Hungary.โฆ
@markstoneman Germany. Weโll likely stay there indefinitely. Seems a good base to grow from, good infrastructure, in the EU, hopefully fast access from most countries in Europe.

@manton I missed this yesterday, but have just read your post. Thank you for making this option available. Sadly I think an important consideration in our current climate.
I donโt quite understand what happens if I tick the Europe hosting box? Does my website get moved to servers in Germany? If so, is there a down time while that move takes place - thinking 3600+ posts?
@crossingthethreshold Thereโs no downtime. It can copy the posts quickly (it doesnโt include photos yet) and you still have to update your DNS settings to finish the switch. Click the checkbox first and as soon as the publishing step is finished, everything will be ready.
@manton took me 5 minutes until I found the load more entries in my registrars DNS settings. But that was it. Thank you!
@manton Well about 10 minutes after changing the settings and everything still seems good. I wouldnโt recognize that anything had happened. Thank you.
@manton Just moved my blog hosting to the European servers and all seems to have gone smoothly. Thank you for the option ๐
