If you have an interest in feedland and the work @dave is doing there... You will also find my feeds here
I am also thinking of curating a micro blog stream under a second twitter handle...
Should I?
@pratik it looks like I might add be able to do it under ‘categories’ ... If i can work out how to add a category 😂
Feedland Categories cracked
click here if you have joined feedland and you will see that I now have a MicroBlogger category … ping me if you have a feed you want me to add.
// @pratik
@odd something not working... and need you to choose one or more of your microblog rites and follow them in feedland... I can then follow and drop into mb category
@AndySylvester as in categories?
It is also possible to exclude an uh y fref from all... So if I end up with 100 micro bloggers I can exclude them from my main feed and minimize clutter
Of course Ws shat I really want is to be able to that in a rule statement
@JohnPhilpin I don't understand. Do I have to add the feed first to feedland? Or any feed works? I thought this is just like a feed reader?
@amit it is ‘just’ a feed reader … @dave has a starter set, you can import and OPML or add feed by feed …
For example I added the rss for my john.philpin microblog … and then followed it in feedland .. so anyone who looks at my feeds can see it.
If I look at say @maique in feedland I see this … if maique adds one of his feeds and follows .. it will be in the list … so I can follow it and categorize it as a microblog feed so it will appear here.
@JohnPhilpin Tried adding you, just to see what would happen. I logged in yesterday, checking it out, but I find it clunky on the iPhone. Will try at a later time on the laptop.
@JohnPhilpin Yeah. I guess TERRIBLE is closer to how it feels 🙂 “Clunky” was me trying to be nice 🤣
@JohnPhilpin -- good work. you can also make a public set of categories using the "news products" system.
@JohnPhilpin -- havent done any work on phones yet for the internal view. for news products, they are tuned up. still sorking on it. 🙄
@JohnPhilpin one of the testers used CSS on his news product. Search the GitHub issues or give me an hour to find a link.
@JohnPhilpin also I am in Feedland under mistersugar but antonzuiker here on M.b (considering changing back to my early nickname).
@antonzuiker cool thankyou - would be good to give it a better look.
@JohnPhilpin In Feedland, under Tools, check out the various links under News Products to see how a bunch of us created our public collections of feeds. John Johnston and Brian Jesse have examples with CSS flourishes.
@JohnPhilpin also, FWIW, I switched my Duke River of News over to Feedland a few weeks back. It's yearning for some CSS to make it more in line with Duke's branding. I'll tinker soon.
@JohnPhilpin Ah, sorry I misunderstood. Start on the News Products doc at the section Advance Forms and then the Outline-based section. You can use Drummer to build an outline that includes styling.
@JohnPhilpin Hmmm. I guess will have to play around a bit. I subscribed a few feeds and I see this.
@amit yup - those are the feeds that you have subscribed to - and if i have subscribed to them - I see the feed checked this is my equivalent - you should add your own feed(s) of your own blog and follow it - it will then appear on your list - and I can then follow - and categorize it as 'microblogger' - so it will appear here
@dave thankyou ... i have now - and now reconnecting to drummer. How would I put it ....
"still digging"
🤪
@JohnPhilpin You’ve probably noticed that it doesn’t render well in portrait, at list on my iPad Mini. Looks fine in landscape. I think I’ve seen the problem before with this layout that Dave uses.
@JohnPhilpin -- here's a blog post I just wrote. It also links to a thread on the FeedLand support repo. I want to be sure you and all others who are interested have all the info they need to get going with FeedLand news products. scripting.com/2022/10/2...
@frankm I think that is exactly right … fixed width … plus lack of fixing the window so it doesn’t float all around ( I’m sure there is technical terminology that describes the issue .. just don’t know it.)
@amit key paragraph in feedland documentation …
You should be subscribed to a feed in FeedLand for it to be referenced in a tab. If no one is subscribed to the feed, then no news items will appear for it, because FeedLand won't check it if no one is subscribed.
@dave thankyou for this ... we are getting there - new logo on the page - and CSS adjusted - my thanks to @antonzuiker who pointed me at @johnjohnston who had already done the hard work - so I just had to edit a couple of colors ...
@JohnPhilpin -- glad you're making progress. I've posted more info in a thread on our GitHub support repo. github.com/scripting...
