Obsidian on iOS & Android is now closed beta. Super excited about this development. One of my favourite and most used apps on Windows is coming to iOS. Can it supplant 1Writer?

@kaa I downloaded that application, but still haven’t quite figured out how to use it. I need to look into it more.
@cambridgeport90 Start with a simple theme and then think of it like a second brain. You need a system to name the individual files (because you can easily amass a ton of them pretty quickly).
@kaa yeah I'm excited for the iOS app to be available so I can give it a better spin and comparison to Roam for my workflow.
@kaa David Sparks seems to be a massive fam - and on the whole I like his way of thinking... But I still don't get what I stop using if I start using this...?
@JohnPhilpin One text editor to rule then all doesn't exist. For me Drafts = Micro.blog and Twitter. iA Writer = Longform writing Obsidian/1Writer = Second Brain (notes I will refer to again more than once) Craft = Research Quick Draft = Daily notes. Gets cleaned out regularly.
@kaa totally with you on no text editor can rule … drafts, iawriter, Ulysses, craft are all sitting on my devices.
Ulysses is fast disappearing
Iawriter close behind
Obsidian SEEMS to be a store for all notes …. But not across all devices - yet - stops me - and then 4 a month just to synch?
Time to download the trial methinks
@JohnPhilpin you’re looking to give up on Ulysses and iA? Just curious why they didn’t work for you?
@JohnPhilpin Ah see now this is where your thinking has to shift a little. You are right obsidian is not on all devices but your notes are. 1 folder on dropbox synced across Windows, iOS and mac. Use any app you want to access. Each app has its strengths and weaknesses :).
@kaa so I can use iawriter on phone?
If I add files in obsidian Dropbox box directly do they automatically appear in obsidian?
@pimoore Ulysses I have through set app - and it won’t go away but I found IAWriter does what I want better … and for longer form still mainly that
But most of my stuff starts with short notes which I am finding drafts is great for … so if I continue with at and IAWriter can read and it … best of all words
