I’ve come to a time in my life where my last non stick pan is now super stick. And I’m going to get a cast iron pan. Can anyone recommend a brand that’s not $1000 for a single skillet, but is still high quality?

@dubh thank you. And yes, non-stick pans are great u tilt heure not and then you need to throw them away, which is wasteful. Especially when there’s pans that have existed for centuries that get this done as long as you maintain them.

@yorrike you don’t need to spend more than $100 on cast iron. Just need to know how to season and maintain. Most come pre seasoned but there is no question that it takes time to get a really good mostly nonstick finish. I have one for omelette making, a couple for general purposes. I also have a carbon steel pan that i love for searing. Took me a long time to get than one properly seasoned. Now it’s the most non stick pan I have.

@yorrike Here in the United States I've got a couple Lodge pans that I really like. They are pretty cheap and I've had no complaints.

@yorrike Lodge cast iron is the way to go. You can buy a good Lodge pan (or dutch oven, or griddle) at Walmart for $50 or less. They're great. If you pay $1000 for a cast iron pan I'm not sure what "quality" they think you're paying for.
I use a good stainless steel pan, also non-stick, also works well, and doesn't weigh a ton, which to my mind is cast iron's drawback.

@JohnBrady I’ve had stainless recommended a lot. They seem a lot cheaper and do the same job so may go that route. Thank you.

@JohnBrady I said my pan was "non-stick"; I meant to say that it's not non-stick. Non-non-stick? I stopped using non-stick when I realized that when, inevitably, it stopped working, it was because all that non-stick finish, whatever it is, had gone into my food.
