Mastodon posts above 300 characters make my timeline worse. I hope there will be ways to limit such posts via timeline settings and that Micro.blog resists the temptation to go above 300 characters for truncating.
Shorter posts, even including images, are great.
@rcrackley I wouldn't mind seeing all posts and comments display as a couple of teaser lines with a link to look at the entire post. Would make the timeline much easier to scan, I think.
@rcrackley @simonwoods Those long toots on Mastodon strike me in the same way those on Twitter did, namely they should’ve been blog posts instead.
@SimonWoods I too find the Timeline character count discrepancy between all microposts vs. Mastodon posts to be annoying, even though I'm vouching for a higher character limit myself. The other problem I’m seeing on my Timeline is that Mastodon post threads are displayed as individual posts instead of all reply posts being cleanly tucked under the opening post.

@SimonWoods did you notice some people change their Mastodon instances to support more than 500 characters? I've seen people using instances that support 1000-character long toots. It's infuriating.
