I can’t exactly but a finger on it, but ever since I’ve been a Christian secular “Christmas” makes me depressed in a way secular “Easter” doesn’t. - Maybe it’s the fact that Yule is so hard to escape. Decorations, music, parties are more intense than some eggs and bunnies.

@marmanold Interesting point. I think some people feel that Christmas is THE big Christian(ish) holiday, too; nobody says "Keep the Resurrection in Easter!"

@marmanold It seems to me that secular Christmas has gobbled up the Feast of the Nativity of the Lord in a way that hasn't happened with Easter. Secular 'Easter' is pretty mild: no massive advertising, special store hours etc. (BTW in Orthodoxy, Pascha is huge, the pivot of the whole year. So we hardly notice the bunnies etc.)
I learned recently that some protestant outfits cancel church if 'Christmas' falls on a Sunday, so that families can have a proper 'Christmas'. Secularization taken almost to the limit..
