@Gabz I think Manton must have read this post (listen to the latest Timetable) ;-)
It sort-of feels like a certain set of “features” (like pagination) need to be standardized across all themes, so they’re always available, but then certain ones can default to “off” if they don’t exactly match the theme’s stylistic vision, with a button or checkbox available to turn them on, to make it simple for everyone.
But then Manton would have to build a “theme options” screen and interface with the blog files—but maybe he’s going to have to do that, anyway, when he implements showing M.b conversations as comments on the blog post (planned to be optional)…?
@chet at them moment, the only thing I feel like I am missing on my current setup (using Kiko), is pagination. The actual look of the site is fine. Maybe I need to add some color here and there but I'm sure I can at least figured those little things out. :)
@chet Kiko it’s supposed to have it, I think I found it in GitHub once, just don’t have the knowledge to work it out or implement it.
@manton That would be nice. I tried once and then decided I would just wait for an update. Thank you!
@bix I prefer the "earlier/later" links as well. When you have thousands of posts, the page numbers are overwhelming and not super useful. (Which is partly why we originally moved away from pagination. Now we're kind of stuck in the middle and it needs to be more consistent.)
@bix That drove me batty for years in my WP theme, and I finally hacked the theme to make it make sense sometime last year ;-)
FYI, here are two conversations wherein we discussed pagination a year ago, and which in part led to the current system in Micro.blog hosted blogs (the link to David’s post has gone stale; it’s now here).
