@Gabz I’m in the same boat. My biggest fear is becoming fragmented with my online presence. I think the biggest thing for me currently is I have a way of editing though a nice app on Blot via Ulysses. I’m not aware of any elegant way to edit on mobile with Mb.

@sku\_b I am using Drafts for both Mb and Blot at the moment. With actions and shortcuts to publish directly from drafts to either or. But yeah, there are things from both that I like but there are little things here and there that blot has that Mb either doesn’t or is limited. I mean I feel like I’m in no rush to decide, I already paid for the year so... 🤷🏻‍♂️

@sku\_b how did you change the font on yours if I may ask? CSS? The same way you would with a Mb theme ?

@Gabz Yup, CSS. I was looking at it today and thinking about changing the headers to Georgia or something with a serif. I would like to make the theme dark like my Mb page but haven’t got around to it entirely yet.

@sku\_b ha! How do you create a CSS file for blot? And is the “coding” for fonts and stuff like that the same as the one I use for Mb’s or is it different!? I think all I’d like to do right now is to change either the font size or the font entirely.

@Gabz You have to fork the template first, which means to duplicate it. From there you can edit the style.css file. Most of the templates are that straightforward, however the Magazine template can be very complex. That’s why I’m messing with the default now.

@sku\_b oh 😯 so that’s what the fork option is, I was wondering what that did!

@sku\_b @gabz I hear the pain.

John.philpin.com is on MB

Word.philpin.com and pictures.philpin.com both on blot

David @blot and @manton both super helpful .. and still yet to workout what to post to where and why.

@sku\_b @Gabz I'm curious, how often do you need to edit on mobile? I almost never need to, but the plan is to add the "Posts" section from the macOS app to the iOS app for quick edits.

@manton I do everything on iOS , I feel more comfortable with it and I always have my phone with me (of course) and my iPad. And been able to use Drafts actions is integral for my blogging workflow

@manton A good example is my NFL Draft post from last night. I’m adding to it as things of interest happen, sometimes frequently. I feel I’d rather do that than blow up a timeline.

@sku\_b I looked into the CSS style sheet for the default theme, I’m assuming that if I want to increase the font size I need to look at

body { font: 17px / 24px

Which one Of the 2 numbers I change or which change what?

@Gabz look for the “p, li” class line. That one is more specific to the post content.

@manton I definitely want the option to edit from iOS. I would use it frequently. I often post/edit things on my blog when I have downtime commuting around town. The phone and tablet are central to me.

@manton I make more typos on iOS, and I tend to write out a thought and post it before realizing I want to refine the wording. Editing on iPhone would be a great differentiator for micro.blog compared to Twitter. The ability to edit encourages thoughtful writing.

@Gabz @manton +1 for editing on iOS. I don’t know how easy/difficult that might be but it would be a great help.

@manton I quite often want to do a quick edit of a MB post from iOS, most often for typos but also not infrequently for more major edits such as changing image/text layout of a blog post when I’m out and about. So I’d +1 an option for implementing this.

@manton I figured Drafts/Posts would make its way over once it hits the macOS app. I’m glad to see that happening when it does (take the time you need, I’m not one to rush an engineer). For the time I’ve used this service (about a year) we’ve at least had Mars Edit on the Mac, but no real equivalent to that on iOS/Android. So, having a real way to edit content in the app is a plus.

Another good example for me is being able to place a photo in a post where I want it. For most posts, having all photos at the end of a post is fine. But, say I’m creating a travel log and I want to place a photo after a paragraph describing a stop I made. MarsEdit allows this on the Mac. Nothing currently does on mobile. Yet, this is something I do have some control over with Blot, writing in either Drafts or Ulysses, or with really any other blogging service. I understand the desire to keep things simple (write something short, add a photo, and go). But, as someone who has a degree in Visual Publications, which is graphic design with printing and publishing added in, I think about doing more with formatting would like the reigns removed, sort of speak.

@sku\_b Thanks for the feedback. This is what Sunlit was designed for. You can drag and drop photos around to change the order and have multiple text sections, by default based around days. Quill on the web is another option. I think specialized apps are best so we don't need to complicate the main Micro.blog app.

@manton OK, I have looked at editing on the web on micro.blog’s side, and at least on the iPad, it’s workable. I’ll have to test it on the phone later to see how the smaller work area feels for me. I do look forward to having Posts & Drafts on the iOS app. I‘ll also take a hard look at Sunlit (I kinda forgot about it for posting).

@manton I would definitely like this option. I often don't notice typo's until things are already posted. Being able to edit after posting on iOS would be very nice. I can probably get by with the web interface but its a better experience to be able to just do all of it in the app.
