I’m starting to think I might want to rethink my travel camera setup. I love my micro 4/3 setup because it’s light, but I’m thinking between my iPhone and a small zoom point and shoot camera, I could get by.

@martinfeld iPhone XS and Halide or the stock app mostly. Olympus OM-D EM5 mk II is the m43 camera

@kimonostereo Scratch that; I just saw your earlier answer to someone else. :)

@kimonostereo Hmmm yes Halide on the XS is tantalising... thanks!

@Gaby nice kit! I find I mostly keep the Panny 15mm on when walking around.

@kimonostereo noooo, stick with the current setup. Your the first Micro 4/3 user I know on micro.blog, we could share experiences on how awesome a light camera with interchangeable lenses is 😉

@roelwillems no worries! I’m not leaving m43. Just considering something that might make it easier when traveling.

@roelwillems My Olympus OM-D EM-1 says hi (though I've been all over the iPhone XS recently and my fuji x100t almost replaced the OM-D completely)

@rickcogley taking a look at the Panny LX 100 mkii. Had LX3 back in the day and really loved it. Not sure if I’ll bite just yet.

@kimonostereo I haven't tried any Panasonic stuff at all. I had a big Nikon but sold it and got Fuji X. But, iPhone in raw mode works pretty good too (lots of distortion on its 28mm tho).

@rickcogley I shot mostly on the iPhone this year. Will go through pics after I do a full backup. I wish Fuji had something similar to the LX100 so I could give them a try. All of my friends have Fuji systems.

@kimonostereo whispering: all the cool kids have Fuji. Seriously though, I just like it light. The IQ on Fuji is great and the film simulation is great. But RAW developer support is a challenge. The files are weird because of the weird sensor, so I guess that makes it hard to make a good developer. And just say no to SilkyPix. (1990s calling, they want their UI back)

@rickcogley LOL Don’t get me wrong, my Olympus EM-5 mkii is light enough, but it gets heavy carrying around a bunch of lenses all day while traveling. In Japan, I used the Oly here and there but if most of the day it hangs out in the backpack, it can get heavy. If I’m out and about for shooting it’s fine. But if when I’m riding the train then walking through crowds then hanging out in a shop, it can be a drag. I think for travel the LX100 might be the key for me. At home, I can always put stuff away in my car or drop it off at home. Can’t do that when I’m in Japan on vacation.

@kimonostereo yes, the weight of the Nikon FF system was killing me. I like it light. Do you have a flickr or somewhere where your Japan photos are?

@rickcogley sorry I didn't post more during my trip. Sunlit was kinda borked during that time and kept crashing. Decided to just live in the moment and will probably post more later on…
