What is an idea from a productivity book you’ve found helpful?

I remember next actions being fantastic for helping teenage me break through procrastination. Tasks that seemed so massive could be broken into chunks and then I just had to do the next step.

@ChrisJWilson ha! “broken in chunks” you say… interesting, sounds so obvious and yet

@ChrisJWilson I’ve also found the “two-minute rule” really helpful for just getting through small stuff quickly

@ChrisJWilson Atomic Habits was a game-changer for me. The idea of doing things slow and in small bits made it possible for me to get more done than my previous “big bang” approaches.

@marmanold Atomic habits was a great read for me too. One of the parts that resonated with me was starting with an identity rather than starting with the goal: easier not to smoke when you’re a nonsmoker.

@Gaby As Derek Sivers would say. Obvious to you, amazing to someone else.

@ChrisJWilson thank you for sharing this, I will take a look. It just amazes me how so many solutions to some problems seem very obvious but we (or I) don’t really think about them until someone else points the “obvious” out and yes, obvious for some and amazing for someone else

@Gaby Yeah, it amazes me the times where there’s something I think “well, everyone knows that…should I mention it? Should I write about it?” and yet, there might be someone who doesn’t know it OR who has heard it but forgotten/stopped doing it. That’s part of the reason I asked this question, to be reminded of some of these great productivity principles which I know but have forgotten/stopped doing OR small ideas which can really help.
