@maique other than this, how Tot plays into your workflow ? 😁
@maique @Gabz @crossingthethreshold I draft a lot of what I write, including Micro.blog posts, in Tot, either on the iPad or Mac. Before the Micro.blog web interface had an accurate character count for Markdown, Tot did the job reasonably well and I still use if for that.
@maique One of the first signs of me getting comfortable with the language was that when I swore, the words came out in Portuguese. I was so surprised the first time it happened.
@helgeg I always wanted to know enough Finnish so that I could swear. There is no human being that doesn’t understand the meaning of a Finn swearing 😜
@jemostrom Thank you for inspiring me to watch some videos on swearing in Finnish - it seems they’re experts on the matter. @tkoola, please confirm. 😜
@a_seagull_story @jemostrom haha, I must say Russians are the absolute best at cursing. It is almost a sub-language of its own: Mat (Russian profanity) - Wikipedia
But, yes, we are really good at cursing. My (coincidentally) Russian spouse has a noticeable accent in Finnish except for curse words. And when she starts, she shoots a full on barrage of “perkelevittusaatana”. I wonder where she learned to be such a fluent curser 🙃
@a_seagull_story @tkoola I once tried to learn Finnish but we never got to cursing 😭Instead I learned less useful stuff like hevonen, pappi, touli, hyvvä houmenta, ejsa päitä, etc (sorry about all spelling mistakes). For some reason I feel more at home in Finland than in other countries (except Sweden) despite not speaking Finnish.
@jemostrom @tkoola I think I would feel at home in Finland too. I’ve always loved the music for a start. I shall travel there one day.
@jemostrom Eiisa päitä(?) is a classic. Non covurir. Nicht bedecken. Do not cover. I also forgetthe spelling… @tkoola
@jemostrom @a_seagull_story someone has a funny (+ very educational) Instagram account called “Naughty Chinese” @naughtychinese • Instagram. My dream is someday do the same for Finnish. I think learning obscenities is a big part of learning the language properly
@odd @jemostrom that is funny “får ej övertäckas” is one of the first things I learned in Swedish (also “Mä ikke tildekkes”?). “Ei saa peittää” is very important 😀
@tkoola I would like to be on Instagram, only it’s owned by FB, so I don’t. @manton could an Sunlit feature to post text images with premade/own background images be a nice thing? @cheesemaker
@tkoola Haha, yes, it is, and thank you for the right spelling! I think “Må ikke tildekkes“ is the Norwegian version. Come to think about it “Ne pas couvrir” probably is more right. 🇫🇷
@jemostrom @odd for sure, language learning with all your senses and emotions! 😀 Also, makes me think of my grandma and how her house always felt like a such a warm, loving place.
@jemostrom this has to be the cleanest thread on swearing in the history of social media! Now I have to break in the translator all for all that Finnish…
@Gabz @jemostrom @a_seagull_story @seishonagon @maique @artkavanagh @helgeg @crossingthethreshold @odd @tkoola In regards to the text with images thing, both Micro.blog and Sunlit now have sharing extensions so any app that can build the text+image can post it through the share extension. Sunlit used to have some functions to support workflows as well but I’m not sure it’s still in a workable state. We should add that back in.
@cheesemaker I’ve sent an email to help@micro.blog with a problem I have with sharing from Lightroom to Sunlit.
@jemostrom Got it! We should be submitting a new build for Sunlit 3.2.1 later this week with that fix in the release. Thanks!
@jemostrom There’s a new 3.2.1 in the App Store as of today that should have this fixed.
