@jabel Wow. This feels true. And, perhaps I'm Pollyannaish, but there's a certain excitement or, at least, curiosity about what might emerge from what feels like a dumpster fire right now. Of course, it could be awful. But I agree with Chesterton that the world wobbles -- sometimes worse, sometimes better. So I hope for better.

Related: the Chinese character for crisis includes the character for opportunity. There's no doubt we're deep in a crisis or several connected crises. We want easy answers, convenient fixes. But our problems are deep. Foundational to not just our politics but our culture. The task in front of us, should we attempt it, is nothing short of a remaking of not just our government but our society.
