Micro.blog filters with post length: manton.org

@manton sweet! Quick question about this time of filtering. Do the tub in the background indefinitely or you need to run them every now and then ? And once you do the initial run, how do I know it’s completed. Thank you again for including this , I’m excited!

@andynicolaides The best way to handle that is to customize the Archive template to check for a specific category name and only include those posts. Not sure we have a relevant tutorial for that yet, but it would be useful to work on.

@Gabz They run automatically for new posts you write as they are published. For older posts, you can click Run Filter to go back and apply the filter to everything. It should update the "running" status when it's done.

@manton I see, and depending of the amount of posts, it might take a little while I’m presuming?

@Gabz Exactly. For thousands of posts, give it a couple minutes. If for some reason it never seems to finish, drop me an email.

@pratik @Gabz It'll run in the background, no need to keep that page open. I find it useful to switch to the Categories page and see if the number of posts is going up as it's processing everything.

@pratik @manton mi e still shows running but if I look under categories it’s showing 1108 posts under Microposts

@manton @pratik oh! One last question! If I rename the category, do I need to run the filter again?

@Gabz @pratik Nope, categories are tracked internally by an ID instead of the name, so renaming is fine.
